Turkey Day, Cali's Wedding, My Birthday and Cousin Ann!

So we suck. Yes, we realize this, but as the holiday season approached we were just so busy! And, we were all together which was awesome! This will be a mostly picture based entry but here goes the run down.

In the past month things have been busy. All the Wiesewoman were together for Thanksgiving which was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.  We all remembered (it didn't take long) how much we love being together. I just wish we could be all together more often!  We had a great Thanksgiving, great food, and TONS of leftovers.  The girls were nice enough to come visit me at school and help me host "Turkey Tuesday" in my classroom. Every year I do a full Thanksgiving meal in my classroom with the help of the kids. There were about 50 people give or take that stopped in and everyone had plenty of food. I even sent a lot of staff home with left overs. Oh how I love me some arroz con gandules Puerto Rican style!  (I love my students' parents and their willingness to cook!)

Then classes were coming to an end so I had lots of work to get done and very little time to do it. I luckily finished up all my work just in time for the crazy that is the weeks before winter vacation!  Classes went pretty well but I will NEVER take two classes while teaching full time again. What was I thinking?

Next came the crazy crazy weekend of the 20th. On top of the 21st being my birthday, we also got a noreaster on Thursday night into Friday and no school Friday.  Then although it was supposed to stop, the snow kept coming! Tim and I had to hop in the car on Saturday after a brief stop off in Bristol (doggie daycare of course!) and make our slippery way down to New Jersey for the rehearsal dinner for Cali's wedding. We made it just in time to put on our coats and hurry up and wait!

Back to Meme and Papi's we went, snuggled up nice and warm and watched the rainy snow come down. The next morning was quick breakfast, and then off to get ready for the 12 o'clock wedding!  Meanwhile I was so excited! Why you ask?  Well, I will tell you, all of the photos posted below were taken with my very new very loved Cannon Rebel DSLR Xsi!!!! Yippee!  You guys rock! Thank you all for the birthday present. I thought it was so cool that you all came together and super extra thanks to Tim for getting this all planned. I am a happy happy girl! I am so excited to learn all about my new toy!

And, an even better birthday present.....What? How could there be a better birthday present than that you ask? Cousin Ann!!  Yes indeed. We got a chance to spend some quality time with Cousin Ann and see pictures of Simon and the boys. Who by the way are 17 and 14 and look so grown up. "Buddy" (hehe anyone remember this?)  or Alexander is finishing up his last classes and preparing to take the Advanced testing. I believe Ann said he is really into history.  Maybe Ann and the boys can post some of the pictures here for everyone to see. Ann, Papi and I took a little detour on our way home from the rehearsal dinner to make a short video of the lovely American decorations near Meme and Papi's house. The house I took her to was sooo funny. They had all sorts of light, reflective gingerbread men and houses and to top it all off, they were piping Silent Night into the front yard!  Um, yeah, holiday spirit much?  Hopefully they don't read this blog entry and get offended!  Or better yet, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!  Ann, where are you? We need to post that video!

Cali and Anthony's wedding was wonderful and very Cali! The two of them looked great and very happy.  Tim and I had to take off early because even though the sun had begun to shine in Jersey, it was STILL SNOWING in Connecticut. Yuck-o! We made it home safely and even in time for Tim and I to go out for a nice, quiet, birthday dinner.  Finally time to sit and enjoy the birthday evening and some alone time.

But, alas, no rest for the weary!  Off to sleep we went because it was back to work the next morning. (although I did get a delayed opening! woohoo)  So, that is the month long update. I promise to be better about getting information up there and I will whip, I mean gently remind the seeestas to do the same!  Ladies, you heard? You are officially on notice! Get your booties over here and update! Pictures to follow!

Happy Halloween!!!!!

I can't wait to see the betty boop pics mia....get those up here soon, ok? It has finally started raining here, thank goodness--the earth has been so dry after all those fires this summer. It smells wonderful. It rained promptly on time for halloween last night, so that the downtown streets were wet and i thought all my stilting friends were nuts! The crowds were small this year due to the wet weather, but it was warm and still fun to run around. Below are some pics. I was a day of the dead character.
LAst weekend i went to a blessing way for my friend Heather who in two weeks or so will have a new baby. It was sweet, we strung beads we had brought for her to take to the birth, bathed and rubbed her feet, had a little ceremony, and henna-ed her belly. She is so cute and big!
I have a bpot of black bean and chix sausage soup on the stove, warming the house. The rain is falling outside the window and all the plants on the deck are slick with water....so beautiful and cozy.....i wanted to take poor pooka on a walk today, but it is really coming down out there! The one place i have taken her this week is to Age's house for drum class. She loves it! She sits right in front of the skin of the drum when you are trying to play and smiles. It is 4 of us women and Age teaches it, and it is so much fun.
Ok girls, i love you both so much and i am looking forward to hanging out with you like you wouldn't believe! LEt's conference call about the menu soon, no?
xoxo

Worky work work

Hi ladies! Oh, how I miss you!
It is so funny how with every passing year I see our family evolving, and I feel more and more strongly about near the two of you. It really is weird that because the three of us are naturally made up of the same stuff (physically) that we are just so similar (psychologically). I just always feel so in tune with you guys on all subjects, even when we are so far away from each other. Anyways, that being said, I am SO excited for Thanksgiving to come! Hiking, Cooking, Getting mom drunk, Maybe some pottery painting, Gossiping, WOO HOO!! Maybe we should think about organizing another secret santa or something for this year?

So not that much is new with me... I am at work now, but when I get home I will load some pictures of my new friends, roomies, and the bare but quaint house! Earlier this week I was invited with Ali to our friend Dane's house to do a steam bath! His dad built his house, and built them a sweat lodge, and so it was AMAZING to do... We all got nakie and brought in a gallon of water each, and pretty much meditated for three different times of 15 minutes. It was such a great experience, and I felt so clean and happy after, but it was definitely an intense thing! So nice..

Work is fine, and I enjoy being relaxed while there, but it is just really tolling! I know I work about 40 hours just like everyone else, but retail is so different because not only are you on your feet and having to be social the WHOLE time, but it is also 7 days a week, not 5... its a killer I tell ya. ugh! So Im pretty tired often, but when I am not there I am either at the yoga studio, or am having some wine with the roomies and our little group of friends that we have made family. I take Coop on walks and hikes as much as I can, but I feel so bad for him on days when I work doubles, and am gone from 10 am to 10 pm!! Luckily my roommates are there to keep him company, but I know he is upset with me for never being there for him! I think it is time for the two of us to go on a HUGE full day hike just the two of us on my next day off... Ill let ya know and post pictures when we do!

Other than the daily grind I am really getting in to Halloween this year! I think I told you, but I am going to be betty boop! No plans yet, but we are all excited to go out and meet some people ( and then wake up for work at 7am the next morning)! What are you all being? I hope you are going out or having parties or something : )

Lastly, Brie, Set up your facebook page young lady!!! hehe, I want you to be able to see ALL of the pictures that we all have up, and it makes it easier to show you two about weekly flings, and friends that I am talking about! (Plus I want to be able to stalk your live like I can lexi's)! hehe Love you both

Mia

Random

Just found these and thought I would throw them up.

One year down, many to go!

So Tim and I celebrated our one year anniversary. We decided we weren't doing presents. Anniversaries shouldn't be about what object you give each other they should be about remembering back to all the reasons you love each other and the things you have been through together.

So, we had dinner at the Heritage for free (one year anniversary dinner) and we talked about the wedding and how it feels like yesterday but at the same time feels like it was forever ago.  We talked about the DJ, the cake, the photographer and of course the awesome time we had getting the family together. We have decided we liked it so much we want to do it again!

Anyhow, before the dinner and the remembering, was the surprise. Tim and I had just returned form the White Mountains the night before. Tim always takes the next day off to unpack the car and try to clean up from the weekend. Apparently he had more in mind then just cleaning up and picking up Kida. I came home to the picture above. They look familiar don't they?

So, you may or may not know that Tim and I did not get the top layer of our cake back from the venue following the wedding. We are not sure what happened although there is a possibility that they accidently (or stupidly) served it during the wedding. No big deal though, although it is tradition, we were not too sad that we wouldn't get to eat year old, thawed, frozen for a year wedding cake. We moved on, or so I thought.

Tim apparently started thinking about this two or so weeks ago. He called the lady who did our wedding cake, explained what happened and asked if it was possible to remake the top layer. Well as you can see, she had no problem fulfilling this wish!  How cute is he? He spent all day Tuesday getting out to the cake lady picking up the cake and setting up the table to surprise me with the top layer of our wedding cake.

I have to say it was pretty damn cool to come home to that. I really did find a good one....actually, I think I'm lucky he found me.

uuum yeah I'm slacking!

Holy Moly!! It has been a loooooong time since I posted. Sorry ya'all I have been soooo super busy.  Let me see if I can give you guys a run down of everything going on without being boring. Here goes:
1. School i kicking my booty!!! Things are not much better at school they just keep getting more and more crazy but I just don't have the patience to type about it all so I will give you guys an update on the whole thing when you come here in a few weeks. I get all aggravated even typing about it.
2. Classes are going well they are a lot of work but they are going well overall and I am pretty much enjoying them. The reading interventions course I am taking is not quite my style content wise but I like the professor and I am supplementing by doing a different project so all is good.
3. We went on our annual camping trip to the White mountains.  I was so sad that we didn't get to go last year. It was just too close to the wedding to make any sense for us to go away. I loved getting back up there this year. We didn't bring a camera so we used our friend Will's camera all weekend but I haven't gotten them from him yet. I think they are up on Facebook but I will post them when I get a chance. The photos above were taken on my phone.

I'm gonna put in some separate posts one for our anniversary and then I'll add some other Thanksgiving stuff as we get closer but I have also added some pictures of us at the Pickin Patch with little Nate who isn't so little anymore!!  He calls me Auntie Leki (no not a misspell) and Uncle Tim and he says "I love you" and gives kisses and squeezes (hugs) he is just soooo cute!!

Adventures in Solo marketing....

Ok, Mia, where are ya when i need ya? So, I may be able to induce labor, help with sinus infections, or help your hurt leg (or elbow, or butt, or ego--just kidding about that last one), but I have no idea how to let people know that i am out there, waiting to do these things. For money.

SO, this week i put together a presentation folder of info about acupuncture and PMS, acupuncture and fertility, etc....all kinds of OB/GYN stuff, and a letter about acupuncture from a scientific and asian exsplanation, how it can help their patients, and how having their patients come see me can help take a load of the doctor, etc, blah blah blah....

Today, i went to 3 different Gyny offices to drop said folders off to docs there, and on eof the offices was at the hospital, in the medical offices branch. So, i am on my way down from the office, which was on the second floor, and these two guys, neither one small, but the one guy was HUGE, like 6-5 maybe, and like well over 200 lbs, go to get in the elevator ahead of me. As they walk into it, they collide side by side, and get stuck between the doors. There is a brief and subtle moment of pushing and shoving as they figure out how to get thru, as if this was a totally normal way to enter an elevator, at which point i walk in quietly behind them and start to giggle discreetly while pretending to look at my phone. The smaller guy goes "and he's the smaller of my two brothers!", and we all laugh a bit. So, we land, and i turn to them as i am about to get out and say "good luck with this one guys" , and then i get out, and lo-and-behold, there stand the tallest latino i have ever met so far, also waying in well over 200, and the guys goes, "that's him!" and i tell him, "sh-t, now you are really in trouble!.....it was so comical....

So we must have burnt peas......and how about broccoli just blanched, simple, like lorraine makes it. And maybe we can have something interesting for potatoes, like with roasted garlic or wasabi or chipotle? And we could do cranberry salsa as well as sweet regular cranberry? And corn bread ? Any more ideas?

New Home for a New Year

It is official!! Last night Ali and I moved in all of our boxes in to the house last night, and have been painting our rooms for what seems like years. It is so hard to do! I am going for a whole peacock theme, and painted the ceiling and two walls a bright blue/periwinkle, and then the other two walls a shiny white called "frosting". Im hoping to get some really amazing peacock feathers or peacock bed linens or even a duvet cover or something eventually, but Im sure it will take forever to get fully furnished and all. Let me know if you creative ladies have any good ideas for me, okay? I have some pictures that I will post when i get home, however im at work right now so I don't have them on this computer. Thats one of the best parts about the additional retail job I am at... it is such a small boutique that I can basically be online all day, or read, in between when customers come in.

It's been a little bit of a rough week... i'm working 49 hours between the two jobs! That's kind of a nice little jump start so that I can stock the house with all of the necessary move in things like cleaning supplies and all those basic cooking needs that can be so annoying. The bad side of it is that I've gotten a KILLER cold! I will say though, that since learning about the netti pot, and about not having sugar or dairy when sick, and some other little tricks like that, that for the first time in forever my cold is not turning in to a sinus infection wooo hooo!! Okay, on to more interesting things...

Ally Will is coming back to the area from college for a little weekend visit, so maybe ill get to see her this weekend, but mostly I will be spending my day off sat moving more stuff in and painting and having fun with the new roomies!! My other roomate's name is Kate and she is from the bay area and is arriving Sunday! Ill add photos of us all as they come!

Love you and can not wait to hear what is new with you both. You havent blogged in awhile Jeje... youre turn!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. everyone start posting some good new recipes for turkey day!

Time to Blog.... La-dies : )

Ok, if ya don't know what that means, you must go to Youtube and watch Demetri Martin...Mia turned me on to him....he is jst so darn funny!!!! OH my gosh.

ANyway, this weekend is mellow yellow. We were supposed to go to Dunun village to drm and dance and camp and play in the river all weekend, but, Tony started school last week spontaneosly and art school is pretty intense. He is majoring in industrial design, so, lots of drawing. SO, the I ching reccomended that we stay home. Never doubt the i ching.

Yesterday we went to the art store here and slowly sorted thru his materials list for his classes. WOW! I just love art stores. Not that i know exactly what i would do with most of the stuff in them, but i just have to resist this overwhelming urge to grab everything and start squishing paint out of tubes and testing every pen or colored pencil. Art stores must be the most optomistic place on earth....i mean, all that blank paper, all that possibility.....anything could happen! (um...deep thought by brie)

Last night I went to a hip hop performance that was a memorial for a teacher of mine who passed away laast year from meningitis as a complication of HIV, and the benefit was for the santa crz AIDS project. The performance was so amazing....maybe there will be clips on line, but you should look up Gary Kendall. You may know his choreaography if you ever saw the Jabbawockies dance on whatever that dance show is on MTV. They wear masks. Pretty bad ass.
I haven't danced with Gary in years, but it was sch a blast to see his old coreography revisited on stage last night and to recognize and remember doing some of them with him years ago.

Here are some pics..... love you!!

Manifesting!

Hellooooooo Ladies! (said in creepy male prowler voice)

I am with you both about taking a fun hike or two during our rendezvous!
Speaking of hikes...

Sunday night was an interesting night for me.. I was definitely having one of those moments where I began frustrated because after another retail weekend of 7-hour anthropologie shifts, and no social life at all, I was finally out of work with nothing to do. Ar and Aus had friends over, Da and Bina went to a movie, and I had completely nothing to do but watch TV again. I started harboring all of the things that are bothering me right now... I all of a sudden have no Job, no Friends of my own age, no Home of my own, and no social anything. Needless to say Sunday SUCKED.

BUT.. Monday led to great Yoga class and Tuesday I decided to go on a long hike with Cooper by myself. IT WAS AWESOME! We drove about fourty minutes east to the Gorge here, and hiked Angel's Rest. The hike is INSANELY hard... really just hiking a mountain, and getting to the top was so fulfilling, and such a beautiful view. After a little rest, we both descended and ran down the entire mountain! It was such a change for me because 1. I felt like I finally am Okay with doing things on my own like that 2. I felt in much better shape than i had been in which made me feel better, and 3. It reminded me that it makes everything feel so much better when you connect with nature. So upon coming home I got a call from my yoga instructor that she recommended me to one of the ladies in my class that owns a Maternity store that is also at bridgeport village. Anyways, long story short, I am going to work about 20 hours for her, and keep my 20+ hours at anthro... that makes me happy because I was earlier that morning thinking about how i wanted to at least get a second part time job! So I totally manifested it! hehe

From there, on Wednesday Sara and I went to the River with cooper and got him swimming! FINALLY! And today I had a lot of time to think and write some things down, and (as you know Lex), I am starting to contemplate going to grad school to get a Masters in Education...!!!?!?!? Weird and unnexpected I know, but Ive been keeping it in the back of my head lately, and figured I might as well find out more about it. Who knows..

The last exciting thing that Im really happy about ( and that I know you will make fun of me for) is that Ally is rushing DG!!! HAHAHAH I LOVE IT!!!! I am so excited because I wrote her a letter of recomendation for it, and the girls there have told me they love her, and pretty much on Friday she will be a Delta Gamma!!! hehe... i know, its silly, but its kinda cool that I can share that with her, and be able to hand her down all of my old stuff!

Anyways, Sorry im talking so much about me me me, but i thought that those were finally some interesting things going on!

Lets start coming up with specific things we want to make for thanksgiving!!! and post some cool ideas!!! also maybe some things we could do? yeayyy--- and yes, Brie, Im totally down for going to NJ on the weekend, and I think Jej is too!

Love you guys so much

Gobbble Gobble.....

WAHOOOO!! I fly in monday night the 24th @ 9:49, and stay until 7 am tuesday the 2nd. YEAH!!!!! Turkey with Tim and LExi and Mom! Cool! I can't wait to play in the leaves. Wish I could bring Pooka. Can we all drive down to NJ together for sat and sun? Or something like that.

So Saturday Tony and I drove up to SF for Power to the Peaceful, which is a festival in Golden Gate park that started two weeks after 9/11 and has been held every year since. Micheal Franti of SPearhead started it, and it is a free music festival to raise consciousness around pro-peace, anti-war/bush/etc community. It started out as 4-5000 people in the park, and this year, it was 50, 000. It was insane! I ran into a few women who used to live in Santa Cruz but moved to LA, and it was great to re-connect. It was super sunny and hot, which is rare for summer in the city. It is usually foggy and cold until fall. I never even saw the stage thru the crowd, but we had fun anyway, and after the show, Tony and a few of our guys friends played drums and people danced on the grass. Then we went shoe shopping (a favorite passtime/weakness of both of ours.) He usually gets white sneakers of some sort. I was looking for flat or short heal leather boots for fall, but wound up finding some wine-red saucony tennies on sale for 25$. : 0
Then we cruised home and hung out with our friends Andrea and Alsene, who live in Eugene, and were down for the weekend so Alsene could teach dance class. She lived with him in Guinea for 7 years and is the only american I know who speaks fluent Sousou. Sunday he taught a great class and we all took turns dancing in the circle after, and then walked across the street to the natural market and ate lunch together. Pooka came to class to, and sat patiently outside the door to class until the drums stopped and tyhen ran inside to find me, and to run around saying "hi" to all of our friends that she knows. She is such a social butterfly!!

Can't wait to see you guys-- can we go for a fall hike together? xoxoxoxo brie brie

Toys, Dogs, and School

OH.MY.GOSH! I haven't seen one of these in years!! For the longest time I was searching for on.... I couldn't remember their name and the whole family thought I was crazy trying to explain what I was looking for. Well, now they are back....much like Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears, The Rubik's Magic is back.  Tim and I were at the lovely Target AKA Tar-Jey wandering through the game section just to see if any of our favorite party games were on sale and.....WHAMO! There it was sitting on the shelf!  Tim thought I was crazy for how high I jumped.....Needless to say I did not get one but you know what is going on my birthday wish list!!

On another note, we finally gave in and got Kida a "puppy cut." He made it through the summer just fine until the past few weeks. Lately it has just been soooo humid that Kida has been lethargic and mopey. Tim and I took him up to the Granby Dog Park to meet up with mom and her dog and had a wonderful time. Another friend of ours(someone I teach with who lives up that way) brought his dog down and we took them to the stream/river out back of the park.  It was up in Salmon Brook park in Granby, and the water was great. After a wonderful afternoon at the park, Tim and I attempted to brush and bathe Kida.  We did just fine until we realized that he had decided to shed ALL of his undercoat at the same time and it was all matted.  Off Kida went to the groomer and we gave into the Puppy Coat. Here is the before and after!

Before:

After:

He is loving his new cut and is just so darn cute!!

I have been back at school now for two weeks, and the year is going. I am not going to put an adjective on that but I'll just say smooth as it was, it has not been the best school year start thus far. I don't even know where to start telling you all about it so I might just leave it up to you imagination and hope things get better!

I also went back to classes this week and although I am enjoying them so far, I have a feeling it is going to be a busy fall. One of the courses is called Managing Anti-Social behaviors and will hopefully give me some new ideas for handling my tougher kids, and the other is Reading Interventions in the Inclusive Classroom which should be REALLY good for me since reading instruction in the mainstream classroom tends to be my weaker area.  The professors for these classes are both professors I have had before and I love their styles so I look forward to the semester as demanding as it may be.

I also look forward to the possibility of a sister's reunion??!?!?! Mia, holy crap! How did you possibly get a flight that cheap??? I wish I was finding flights like that when I tried to come out west!!! I cannot wait to see you both! Looks like Thanksgiving at my house this year! YEAH!!

Love you guys,
Jeje

Non-Labor day weekend...

Mia i love those boots! So, friday, went to an amazing haitian dance class and then out to see a great Afro--funk/soul/classic rock band called ORogone. (i think that's how you spell it--they're gonna play at Bumpershoot, so Mia, you should go check 'm) I was out with two other brown curly haired ladies, so dancing was super fun with lots of hair flying around.

Saturday there was a master dance teacher in town teaching west african. He is always very diva-esk and moody with the drummers if they mess up even once! Tony and I went home and cleaned the house instead of going to the second class....that is a new bonding activity of ours :)
Finally got a big jute rug too, so poor pooka doesn't have to walk so tiff on the slippery pergo floor. Ouch!

Saturday night we went to Age's (pronounced o-ah) for a house warming/potluck. Poor guy, he is 83 and had to move out of the house he lived in for 15 years with all his stuff and couldn'tfind a new house for like two months, so he was couch surfing. But now he and two other drummers got a great place, and we raged dununs until around 10:30 and hung out with friends and barbecued. I love playing drums!

So sunday, we slept in, went out for breakfast at this little place with the best pancakes in the world (i don't even like pancakes!, but these are great) and took pooka to the beach, where practically every family from San Jose with a kid under 5 was for the day. So cute! all these little kids, mostly latino and vietnamese, running around like the circus. I laughed alot. When people see pooka, they just get the biggest smile on their face, because she smiles at them. It is the funniest thing to watch.....what a flirt!

So, today, i was going to go buy a bed off craigslist, but then realized i need to rent a small uhaul to get it, and.....yeah, um, it's Labor day , remember Brie? So, no Uhaul. No bed either. At least not until tomorrow. Other than that, started a Detox for this week, and hung out reading/studying, and sunbathing on the deck with pooka.

XOXOXOX

Brie

A relaxing weekend

For the first time in a long time, Tim and I haven't had a gazillion things planned into our weekend. This in fact was the first weekend in months that neither of us have had ANYTHING planned!  It was such a nice treat.  So, what did we do with nothing specific planned?  Well, we planned something of course!
We spent all day Saturday cleaning the house and hanging some much needed artwork. Then cooked up a storm and had some friends over for game night.  It was wonderful!!  The house looks great now that we have some artwork on the walls. We are still far from being done, as I have heard is the never ending saga of homeownership, but that is ok. It feels more and more put together each day. Overall, this long holiday weekend was a MUCH needed break from the normal crazy schedule we have.
Now back to the crazy. This week is the second week of school, much more work is needed on schedules for my students, we will be attending a wedding this Friday, Special Olympics on Saturday/Sunday and much of the same for the next few weekends. September appears to be wedding and celebration month!
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends!
Love you all!!

And again it is Fall..

SHIT!! I can't believe it's September!
No really big news in my parts, but I do have an interview hopefully this Wednesday.
There were a couple small Marketing and Ad agencies that would be adding offices in  Portland this Fall that were written up in the front page of the Oregonian last Sunday, so naturally I contacted ALL of them. One of the President's wrote back and said he would have the manager of the portland office contact me for a meeting this week... the manager finally wrote me, and we are still writing back and forth, but I think we are going to be meeting mid week. Woo hoooo! I would love to be at a small, young and trendy agency... I'll let ya know.

On some other news, Ali Grise is going to more to Portland to look for a job, and to live. I think the two of us are going to look for any sort of small house/ duplex/ apartment that is dog friendly ( because we both have pups), that is downtown in a good area, and that is really cheap. I would love to live with her in the city because then i wouldn't be so alone right off the bat. She is also new to the city so we could both go out, and discover it together. On the other hand, if we don't find anything perfect, ill hold it out here and wait for my friend, Sarah's apartment like I was going to. (It's just hard because it could be ready in one month, it could be in one year!)

(Just for fun) A few things im obsesed with right now....

(Mint galactic coconut bliss-- thanks to brie)

What would Hartford be without politics?

It is that time again and I am once again in limbo as the school year begins.  I don't have a classroom, then I do have a classroom, then again nope...no classroom. So with no classroom and no supervisor designated to me I have no one to go to about the lack of room.  Um, not so much. With students reporting to school on Monday I guess I will be unpacking as the kids arrive.....that is if I have a room!

So, on it goes, and the school year commences. I will update you all as I find out. But since I don't know, you can't either!

Love you and miss you all,
Lexi
Hi Guys!! Okay, well how lame is it that I actually wasn't lying when I said I had to cut Coop's nails.... that is how much of a control freak mom I've become to him without anything else in my life going on!!! Poor guy! ha..

Im so glad everyone had these really cool weekends : )
Everything in the unemployed/homeless/lack of love-life world of mine is slowly moving ahead, but everything is just a little bit off. For example...

I FINALLY GOT A JOB OFFER!!!!!!!!!!
...but I turned it down. After a great interview, I received a job offer to be an Inside Sales Representative at Yahoo! SO cool, yahoo right? But I couldn't say yes because I HATE sales!!! And it was phone sales none the less. So that was kinda cool....

THEN I finally went out on Saturday night with Margaux, whom I worked with last year. Really fun night and we kept running in to these bachelor parties everywhere we went! hehe.. Anyways I later got called by a cute guy!! But I didn't call him back because he was maybe like 32 or so? So that was also kinda cool... ( do you see where I'm going with this)

The apartment situation is in limbo, and I just may have to pass it up because Anthropologie work, while getting a lot better : ), isn't gonna be enough to let me live in that apartment! (Also, kinda cool)

Overall everything is great: I am immersing myself in Vinyasa Yoga, I get to look at really cute clothes all day, and Coop has finally learned sit, paw, down, stay, come, load up, leave it, and most importantly time for bed!! LOVE YOU!!!

You know you're lame when....

your little sister gets off the phone with you using the excuse that she " has to go cut Cooper's toenails".....um.....yeah. Just kidding Mia! So Big Ups to Jeje for putting this thing together....so fancy...it took me 4 days just to sign on! Anyway, here are a few pictures from when Mia was visiting and a picture of the lovely Miss Pooka. And one of Tony and Pooka and I on the beach. This weekend I took my first Cranio-sacral Therapy class--it was so amazing! Everyone should get it done; it is so relzxing, and it helps unwind patterns that get recorded and stuck in our fascia from injuries, accidents, and even emotional experiences that we somatitize. Here is the definition of what it is:

CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.

CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:

  • Migraine Headaches
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Motor-Coordination Impairments
  • Colic
  • Autism
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Orthopedic Problems
  • Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Scoliosis
  • Infantile Disorders
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Emotional Difficulties
  • Stress and Tension-Related Problems
  • Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
  • Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Post-Surgical Dysfunction

SER is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma. SERI offers applications designed to enhance results using CST and other complementary therapies.

Cool, huh? I can't wait to give you guys all sessions. I basically spent all weekend re-learning the pertinent anatomy and the technique and giving and recieving sessions. It is pretty "spacey" work, at times, so I'm feeling pretty chill now. xoxoxoxox B
